Our Farm

In addition to our herd of Nubian and LaMancha dairy goats, we also have a wide variety of two and four legged animals.

Let's start with the four legged creatures...

The cows:

Buttercup - A Holstein Jersey cross.  She started out a bit fussy and temperamental, but has really calmed down in the past year.  You are her friend forever if you'll rub her head.

Lillie - A pure Jersey cow.  Lillie is sweet and friendly, but cautious of strangers.  Most people comment on her long eyelashes.

The horses:

Travis - He's a 16 year old gelding who used to be our stallion when we were breeding Appaloosa Horses.  Travis will do anything he's asked.

Hasta - Short for Hasta Manana.  Hasta is 19 years old and is one of our original brood mares.  Hasta will also do anything she's asked.....once she's caught and has a lead rope around her neck.

Holly -  She's a 3 year old who's as sweet as she can be, but if she's crabby, she can kick a feed bucket out of your hand while galloping by you.

The livestock guardian dogs:

We have four, Basha, Hannah, Abby, Zoey.  They are either Great Pyrenees, or Pyrenees and Komondor crosses.

The barn cat:

Oliver - He's our famous barn cat.  Everyone is asking about an update on Oliver.  He is fine.  Oliver has recently begun a habit of bringing birds (DEAD)  to our doorstep. We aren't of the opinion that local birds are threatening our existence.  We're hoping this is just a seasonal thing.

The house dogs:

Andy, Millie and Roger.  They are all either strays or rescues.  They all came to us at different times and in different ways.  Andy is the large mastiff like one.  Millie is the medium sized black one.  Roger is the short stubby Dachsund-like "stocky" dog.  The camera tends to add 10 pounds to him.
